On Tuesday, 5S and 5T were invited to King’s Norton Boys’ School to take part in an African drumming music workshop and a Japanese warrior mask art session, led by KNB staff and pupils.

In the music session, Year 5 started by beating simple rhythms such as Bots-wana, Ni-ger-ia and Ei-thi-opia. Subsequently, they worked in groups to create a polyrhythm using a variety of instruments, with each group taught and instructed by one of the KNB boys.

In the art workshop, our children thoroughly enjoyed working in the impressive, creative surroundings and learning how to sketch and paint authentic Japanese warrior masks, with inspiration also from Mexican ‘Day of the Dead’ skulls.
