This week Year 2 have planned and began the process of creating their very own island. The children are working in small groups to create their own island, they have learnt about Physical and Human features and in their planning have designed an island that includes some of these features.
Using the plans the children worked together to build the shape of the island out of newspaper. They had to manipulate the newspaper to create their physical features, such as mountains and volcanoes.
The next stage was messy! The children used paper mache to mould their islands to shape. They loved it!
We have left the islands to dry over the weekend, ready for another layer. We will keep you updated with our progress next week.
