Accessibility Statement for Cotteridge Primary School

This accessibility statement applies to the website: www.cotteridgeprimary.co.uk/

This website is run by Cotteridge Primary School. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

Adjust colours, contrast levels, and fonts using the on-site accessibility controls.
Zoom in up to 200% without text overflowing or spilling off the screen.
Navigate the majority of the website using only a keyboard.
Navigate the website using modern speech recognition software.
Listen to the website using a screen reader (including recent versions of NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver).

We have also endeavoured to keep the website text clear, concise, and easy to understand.

How Accessible This Website Is

We know that some parts of this website are not yet fully accessible:

Older PDF documents (such as historical newsletters, older policy archives, or statutory reports) may not be fully structured or tagged for screen readers.
Some third-party embedded components (such as live vacancy feeds, payment portals, or embedded maps) may not be fully operable using keyboard navigation alone.
Some older photographic galleries may not feature detailed individual alternative text descriptions.

Enforcement Procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the 'accessibility regulations'). If you are not satisfied with how we respond to your complaint, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).

Technical Information About This Website's Accessibility

Cotteridge Primary School is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-Accessible Content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

Some older uploaded images may lack appropriate alternative text descriptions (WCAG 1.1.1 Non-text Content). We are auditing core template media and providing guidance to content editors to ensure all new media is accessible.
Some hyperlinks may contain ambiguous wording (WCAG 2.4.4 Link Purpose). We are reviewing and updating link labels across key template pages.

Disproportionate burden

We do not intend to retrospectively remediate non-essential historical documents, archived newsletters, or extensive event galleries published prior to September 2020. Undertaking this would impose a disproportionate burden on school administration resources. Any statutory information required by parents or carers can be requested directly from the school office in an accessible format.

Content outside the scope of the accessibility regulations

Pre-recorded video media published prior to 23 September 2020 is exempt from accessibility regulations.
Third-party software and external portals outside the direct technical control of the school (e.g. external vacancy application software).
