ART
Art – Miss E. Bashford
At Cotteridge School we value children’s art. We encourage them to use their imagination and creativity by exploring and experimenting with a wide variety of materials such as clay, pastels, pen and paint. They develop skills in using and handling different types of tools and techniques. We provide them with visual, tactile and sensory experiences to help them communicate what they see, feel and think.
Our children learn about artists, crafts people and designers both past and present and those from different cultures. Children are encouraged to think about how the work of the artists they study reflects the time in which it was created. They learn how to appreciate their own work and the work of others and to give and use feedback to improve their skills. We use sketchbooks to record our ideas and to practise new skills. The children enjoy reflecting on their art journey as they move through our school and love to share their work at the end of each unit.
