On Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th September, year 6 visited the Victorian town of Blists Hill. We dressed up as Victorian children and spent the morning in a typical classroom, chanting our timetables, memorising facts, practising our handwriting and taking part in an outside drill. The afternoon was spent exploring the shops. We visited the chemist- did you know ginger is good for curing tummy ache? We also visited the candle makers, the iron foundry, the printers and watched the steam generated pulley lift iron and clay from the mine! We changed money in the bank so we could buy souvenirs using shillings- the sweet shop was the most popular by far! A great day had by all!
